The Commemorative Curve of Snowdrops in Alexandra Park

What is this?

Covid hit Whalley Range hard with many suffering, dying and having to be socially isolated because of their vulnerability. WRCAG wanted to make a green and living memorial to the difficult events of the Pandemic. Alongside many local groups we worked together to plant a 110 meter curve of snowdrops in Alexandra Park. This is a green and living memorial that will benefit visitors and wildlife such as pollinators..

The curve is visible in February and March, the months when the pandemic started.

Why this approach?

Memorials do not have to be made of stone or metal, consuming and depleting the worlds resources. We can work with nature to create a place to reflect. This place reminds us of the cycles of nature and the beautiful flowers bring hope and consolation

We won't have a society if we destroy the environment.
